Captain America: The First Avenger

I figured since its sequel is being released in a couple of weeks I would review the first; Captain America: The First Avenger. Captain America is about Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans who has been in films like The Perfect Score and Puncture, a little guy who wants to join the fight during WWII. He is denied because of his size, and medical issues but that doesn't stop him. Because of his determination he meets Dr. Abraham Erskine, played by Stanley Tucci who was in the Hunger Games films.

Dr. Erskine gives Steve a formula that makes him a super soldier. This formula turns Steve into the hero he always wanted to be, Captain America. With his new strength Steve rescues his friend, Bucky Barnes and a lot of other soldiers who were captured by Johann Schmidt, also known as the Red Skull. Bucky is played by Sebastian Stan who has been in films like The Covenant and Hot Tub Time Machine. Schmidt is played by Hugo Weaving who was in the Matrix films.

After Steve learns that Schmidt has a similar formula inside him his mission is to stop Schmidt from setting off missiles in major cities in the U.S. The people who help Steve with his mission are: Bucky Barnes, Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell who was in films like The Duchess and The Sweeney, Colonel Chester Philips, played by Tommy Lee Jones who was in the Men In Black films, Howard Stark, played by Dominic Cooper who is in the new film Need For Speed, Timothy Dugan, played by Neal McDonough who has been in films like The Guardian and Traitor, Gabe Jones, played by Derek Luke who has been in films like Antwone Fisher and Glory Road, and Jim Morita, played by Kenneth Choi who was recently in The Wolf of Wall Street.

All the acting is well done in this film; I have no complaints. The action and special effects are awesome! Some people didn't think so about the effects used to make Evans look smaller, but I thought they did a great job. If you like comic book films this is the film for you. It is a beginner, so you don't need to know anything about any of the characters going in. This film isn't for everyone, but if you like really good action/sci-fi films, this is for you. In the end my rating is that you should definitely see this if you like action movies, or if you are a fan of the comics.
