I saw Tomb Raider a couple of weeks ago, and I had a good time with this movie. I think this is a step in a very right direction for video game movies. It wasn't perfect by any respect, but compared to past video game movies it definitely improves the odds.
The film is the origin story of Laura Croft, and how she begins her journey of collecting artifacts and saving the world from people who want to use those artifacts against the world. I think Alicia Vikander did a great job as Croft, and I actually like her version a little more than Angelina Jolie's version; even though they play two very different versions of the character. The action and special effects were pretty cool as well, and I think you can have a lot of fun with this film if you are looking for a fun movie to see.
There was one thing they did that I think they didn't really need to do; I didn't see it coming, but I don't think it was necessary for the story. It pertains to a character, and they show up about in the middle of the movie. They did nothing really, and if they left this person out I think we would still have the same film. Other than that I had a fun time with Tomb Raider, and in the end I think you should see it if you get a chance. It doesn't have to be in the theater, but I think you should still see it.
