Pacific Rim: Uprising

I saw Pacific Rim: Uprising, and even though it isn't as good as the first I still liked it. It is about Idris Elba's character's son taking over the program he started, and train the next generation of Jaeger Pilots to defend what comes next. If you are like me, and you went to see the first one to watch fights between big robots and big monsters then this has plenty of that to let you have a fun time.

This movie isn't great, but the action is good enough that you can turn your brain off for about two hours, and just watch some really cool fight scenes. John Boyega's character is interesting, and I wasn't expecting him to be the way he is, but I liked it. The other character they focus on who I liked was one of the new recruits Amara Namani. She has a past that isn't pleasant, but she is strong willed, and I was actually rutting for her.

Even though this was Steven S. DeKnight's first motion picture I think he did a descent job with such a big film. I also thought he did a good job with the action because I enjoyed all the fight scenes, and thought the effects looked really good. In the end, Pacific Rim: Uprising is a descent sequel that I think most fans of the original can have an enjoyable time with. I think it should be seen, but if you don't you aren't missing anything; if you do see it tough it should be seen in theaters because the action is better on a big screen.
