The Fate of the Furious

I saw The Fate of the Furious recently, and even though you could feel the loss of Paul Walker's character I still had a lot of fun with this film. Pretty much if you like the others you will like this film just as much. It is just as crazy and fun as the others have been, and you definitely have to throw logic out the window when you go see it.

The acting is fine, and I have no problem in that regards; the new additions of Charlize Theron and Scott Eastwood are fine. Eastwood is a little annoying, but you get over it quickly. At this point there is nothing new with this franchise that would surprise you if you have seen any of the previous films. With them planning two more films I won't be surprised if in one of them they go to space; we have entered Bond territory. I had a lot of fun with this film, and I think you can as well.

In the end, I say you should definitely see The Fate of the Furious if you enjoy this franchise. You feel the loss of Paul Walker, but the movie still has its core values of logic free action and family. If that is what you are looking for that is what this film delivers on perfectly.

Power Rangers (2017)

I saw Power Rangers recently, and don't laugh, but I had fun with this film. I grew up on this franchise, and I watched it for many years; even to the point where it might've been weird. This reboot though I think was done well. It has throw backs to the original series for the hard core fans, and it is new enough to bring in a new generation.

I thought the new team did very well, and some had more story than others, but you got enough of each to care about them. Some reviewers have said that Elizabeth Banks is over the top as Rita, but I didn't mind her. I thought she was a little crazy, but that is her character in my opinion. I thought Bryan Cranston was good as Zordan, and I didn't find Alpha 5 annoying; I actually liked him in the movie better than the series.

I like the look of the suits a lot more than the show. The metallic look to them is more modern, and a little cooler than spandex. They did a major product placement which was odd, but didn't take me out of the film. In the end, I think people can have fun with Power Rangers if you ignore the title, and just give it a chance. Not everyone will like it, and I understand that, but overall I say you should give it a look.
