Flashpoint

For this week I'm going to review the TV series Flashpoint. Flashpoint is a show that is based in Canada, and it is about a special unit in the Police Force called The Strategic Response Unit. Now this unit handles all the extreme cases in Toronto, for example hostage situations and kidnapping.

The series focuses on Team One of the SRU, and their leader is Gregory Parker, played by Enrico Colantoni who has been in the TV series' Veronica Mars and Person of Interest. Parker's Second in Command is Ed Lane, played by Hugh Dillon who has been in films like Assault on Precinct 13 and Surveillance. The other team members include: Jules Callaghan, played by Amy Jo Johnson who has been in TV series like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Wildfire, Sam Braddock, played by David Paetkau who has been in films like Snow Day and Final Destination 2, Mike Scarlatti, played by Sergio Di Zio who has been in films like The Boondock Saints and The Cinderella Man, and finally Kevin Wordsworth, played by Michael Cram who has been in films like Tommy Boy and Repo Men. Now there are other team members throughout the series, but these are the main characters.

Now before this show started I had seen plenty of cop shows, but after I saw the Pilot I knew this show was different. What I mean is that this Unit tries to defuse the situation without violence. They use psychology went talking to the suspects, and they negotiate for a peaceful end. Here is an example of what I mean. What this series does is that it makes you feel for the people who are causing the situations.

Flashpoint did something I wasn't expecting, it made me cheer a few times for the people SRU was trying to stop. This series is a great show that lasted five incredible seasons that has you on the edge of your seat every single episode. Everyone's acting is great, and they make you feel for these characters when they have really tough situations that could or does end badly. In the end, my rating is that if you want to see an excellent cop show with characters you love, and intense situations then you should see this show as soon as you can. You won't be able to stop watching as soon as you start. This show is incredible, and should be enjoyed by all.

District B13

With the film Brick Mansions coming out this Friday I thought I would review original film this one is based off of which is, District B13. Now I don't watch a lot of foreign films, but when I saw the trailer for this I knew I had to give it a chance, and I'm really glad I did.

District B13 is about Capt. Damien Tomaso, played by Cyril Raffaelli who has been in films like Live Free or Die Hard and  Stranded, who has to break into District 13, a part of the city that has a wall built around it to keep the scum there and away from proper society, to stop a bomb from going off. In order to break into the District he needs help from a con who grew up in the district known as Leito, played by David Belle who has been in films like The Family and Babylon A.D. The two work together to stop the bomb, stop the bad guy called Taha Bemamud, played by Bibi Naceri who has been in films like Road Nine and The Code, and save Leito's sister called Lola, played by Dany Verissimo-Petit who has been in films like Urban Cannibal and La planque

This movie and its sequel are just total fun movies because the action is really cool. I like the action so much because they use something called parkour. If you don't know what parkour is, here is a short video that shows what it is nicely. If you liked that video you will enjoy this movie as much as I did. The action is really cool, and the acting is great. My only problem with this film is that it is way too short; it is only 84 minutes long. That is only an hour and twenty-four minutes long; I feel that is a little too short. Other than that this film is just plain fun.

In the end, if you are old enough to watch R-rated films I think any fan of action movies will enjoy this film very much. My rating then is that if you like action movies and parkour go and see this film as soon as you can. If there are any movies or TV series you would like me to review please comment and let me know.

Psych

For this review I thought I would a show that just ended, but was one of my favorite shows for eight fun years. The show I am talking about is the USA show Psych. The series is about Shawn Spencer, who was taught at a very young age by his father who was a cop, to be very observant of his surroundings, and what is going on. Pretty much what the character of Sherlock Holmes does, but he isn't as smart.

When he calls in a few tips to the police station they become suspicious, and think he is committing the crimes so he lies, and says he is psychic. This lie lasts eight years, and in this time Shawn solves crime for the Santa Barbra Police Department with the help of his best friend Burton Guster, AKA Gus.

Shawn Spencer is played by James Roday who has been in films like The Dukes of Hazzard and Beerfest. Gus is played by DulĂ© Hill who was in the tv series The West Wing. During each case Shawn is always in a competition with Head Detective Carlton Lassiter, played by Timothy Omundson who has been in the tv series Jericho and Judging Amy. Lassiter's partner and Shawn's love interest is Juliet O'Hara, played by Maggie Lawson who has been in films like Pleasantville and Cheats. The Chief of the Police Department and the woman who decides to trust Shawn enough to let him help is Karen Vick, played by Kirsten Nelson who has been in tv series like Thanks and The O'Keefes. The last character that should be mentioned in Shawn's father Henry Spencer, played by Corbin Bersen who has been in films like Beyond The Heavens and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Psych is a comedy with some dramatic moments throughout the years, but here is a video that has a few clips of some really funny moments from the show. This show is a fun show for anyone. I'm not saying kids can watch it, but I believe everyone should see this show when they are mature enough to enjoy the comedy. In the end my rating is that you should see this show as soon as you can. It will provide you with hours of entertainment, and it will make you laugh for just as long. If you are looking for an awesome show that will change your day from a bad one into a great one Psych is the show for you.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This past weekend I saw the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and it was amazing! The film is about Steve Rogers/Captain America, played again by Chris Evans, in modern times. Rogers is just starting to get use to modern day when a new threat comes up known as the Winter Soldier.

Rogers is helped by the Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson who has been in films like Her and The Avengers, Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson who has been in films like Django Unchained and Snakes on a Plane, and by Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie who has been in films like The Hurt Locker and Eagle Eye. The cast also includes Robert Redford who has been in films like All is Lost and Spy Game, and Cobie Smulders who was in the TV series How I Met Your Mother.

The acting was great by the entire cast, and the action was awesome. The first Captain America is a fun film, but this one is just great. This is definitely better than the first, and the main reason is the action sequences. The directors did such an amazing job with the action sequences that you felt they were real. It made you feel more like you were in the film. They did a lot of practical effects, which means they actually filmed the action, and not so much special effects. Yes there are special effects, and they look great, but they did a lot of the sequences for real and it made the film that much better.

In the end, even if you weren't a fan of the first Captain America you need to see this one. My rating is that you need to see this as soon as humanly possible. It is a great film, and you won't regret seeing it.
