Prey

Okay, so I watched Prey, and I actually had fun with it. Now I know most people haven't liked the Predator franchise since either the first one, or maybe the second one, but actually Prey did a really good job, in my opinion, of bringing it back to its roots. It is more of a horror/action film than a sci-fi/action film. Here is the trailer for the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZ7LytagKlc

The film also keeps the story simple again like they did in the first film. What I mean is that it isn't bogged down by so many subplots that it gets confusing of what is going on. It also focuses more on a smaller cast, and you are mainly following one character throughout. The action is pretty good, and it is rated R, but I do have to say that they held back on showing some of the stuff, which is fine, but I would've liked to have seen more of the kills.

I'm not saying they don't show any, or they hold back on the blood and gore, but they filmed and edited it in a way that you miss some of the finishers on the kills. With it focusing mainly on one character I thought Amber Midthunder did a great job, and I was definitely rooting for her character by the end. The film is a prequel, so I actually did like that because you don't have to have watched any others to enjoy this.

Now if you have seen the others it adds to the enjoyment, but not seeing them doesn't hurt it either. Overall, if you like any of the Predator movies I would say to give this one a chance because it is a fun movie, and I enjoyed it. It is streaming on Hulu right now if you want to check it out, and you can see for yourself.

Elvis

Okay, I haven't done one of these in a while, but here we go. I recently saw the film Elvis, and it was really well done. What I mean is that I had a really enjoyable time watching this film, and I learned a lot about a singer who contributed so much to the music industry.

Over the years I've seen a few musical bio pics, and this one is by far one of my favorites. It tells a really intriguing story with superb acting, and great direction. I wasn't bored at all, and I was hooked the entire time. The main reason for that for me was Austin Butler, who put his heart and soul into playing Elvis Presley, and it comes out beautifully. Here is even a link to a video show casing what he went through for this role https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nQaG6gjfII.

Tom hanks plays a character that I've never seen him play before, and he does a fantastic job as always. All the other performances are great as well, but Butler should definitely receive awards for this movie. This movie is one of the better films I've seen this year, and I think it should be seen by anyone who enjoys music of any generation. You don't have to see it in theaters, but if you get a chance to watch this film you will not be disappointed by it one bit.

Harley and The Davidsons

Okay, so I know it has been a really long time since I've done one of these, but the reason for that is I got really busy, and I didn't know if anyone was actually reading these. Anyways, I'm not promising a new post every week, but if I see something that I really want to talk about I'll do one. That is the case with a mini series I found recently that I enjoyed very much; that is Harley and The Davidsons.

Harley and the Davidsons is a 3 part mini series about the formation of the now famous Harley Davidson motorcycle company. It is about how they got started, and the trials the three men went through over the years to keep their company alive. When I found this I didn't know what to expect, so I looked up reviews, and did a little research first. After I read some reviews I finally watched it, and was hooked from the very beginning of part 1. It is a very interesting story, and I watched all 3 parts without getting bored at all. Put it this way, after watching this mini series I actually really want to ride, not own, but ride a motorcycle at least once in my life.

The acting is very well done, the story is intriguing, and the bike races are exhilarating, that I had a blast watching this series. I strongly recommend that if you are a bike enthusiast, or even if you just want something really good to watch for a day I strongly recommend watching the mini series Harley and The Davidsons.

The War At Home

I watched the movie The War At Home again this weekend, and I just thought it is such a moving film that should be seen if at all possible. It is about a Vietnam veteran, and his struggles that he faces with being back in normal society. This film touches on a few things that I find interesting, and think should be touched upon.

Emilio Estevez is very moving, and just really good as the Vet, and the way he plays it you just feel for his character, and what he went through. Everyone else gives great performances, and you can tell throughout the movie that Estevez's family loves him, but they don't always show it in the greatest way possible.

The movie touches on the toils of war, and what it sadly does to some of our countries heroes. It also touches on the fact that Vietnam is one of the few wars where we lost, and how our soldiers were sadly treated when they came home; some of which were drafted to fight in this war. That is another topic The War At Home delves into.

I have a great respect for all the men and women who serve in any branch of service, and I think this film just shows us a sad cost to our freedom. In the end, I think The War At Home is a movie that Estevez did a great job directing and starring in, and should be seen by anyone who is looking for something that shows us just a little of what some face when they come home. The movie is rated R, but mostly for language, and if you do watch it you will experience an emotional journey that will have you laughing, and maybe crying by the end. I strongly recommend seeing this film as soon as you possibly can.

The Equalizer 2

I saw The Equalizer 2 recently, and it was really good. This is Denzel Washington's first sequel, and it was a great sequel. Robert McCall is back serving justice to those who need it, and when his friend is murdered it becomes very personal.

The Equalizer 2 is just as good as the first, and I loved every minute of this one like the first movie. The story isn't anything new, but just to see Washington dish out that justice is just sweet. The action is very well done, and Antoine Fuqua has another great movie under his belt. He knows how to direct, and his action sequences are smooth, and very precise. Denzel is great as usual, and just like Benicio del Toro in Sicario, Equalizer is Denzel's franchise.

In the end, The Equalizer 2 is a really fun action movie that you should definitely see as soon as you can; especially if you liked the first one. It is a worthy sequel, and I hope it does well enough that they make more.

Skyscraper

I saw the film Skyscraper a couple of weeks ago, and it was a descent movie. This movie is like most of Dwayne Johnson's recent films where it is pretty much a fun movie, but nothing you have to see. Johnson plays a character you can get behind, and he tries to save his family. The acting is fine, and the action is entertaining.

Skyscraper is a movie that takes place now, but resembles a '90s action movie. What I mean is that this movie is a lot of fun, and you aren't bored, but it isn't anything special, or really good either. It isn't bad, but it is a one time watch for me. It is a film where if you are looking for something to see at the theaters, and there isn't anything else you want to see, you can definitely see this and not regret it. Also, if you miss it you aren't missing anything mind blowing.

In the end, Skyscraper is a fun movie that you can see if your bored, and have a good time, but nothing you have to see in theaters. I would see it if you really like Dwayne Johnson, or if you are bored one night. Otherwise you aren't missing anything.
